String of Hearts

Spread the love this Valentine’s Day with a simple decoration your family can make with paper, staples and string! The paper hearts for this Valentine’s Day garland are easy to assemble. If you have youngsters helping, be sure to let them practice pattern-making skills as you string the garland.

Monthly “Real Crafts” are created just for RAK by Bettijo B. Hirschi & Aimée Lowry, the Arizona moms behind family-style blog Paging Supermom. For more ideas visit

Colored construction or scrapbook paper
Scissors or paper cutter
Single-hole punch

Cut paper into one-inch strips lengthwise (cut size 1” x 11”).

Fold paper strip in half and crease (folded size 1” x 5”).

Bend the loose ends of your folded strip towards the middle and pull down (forming a heart shape) and staple into place.

Using a single-hole punch, cut through the middle and each side of the heart.

Thread finished hearts onto the string to create your garland.

  1. This is just so cute! I love it! I have made a garland with heart cookie cutters for my wall. I would have made it longer but I am out of heart cutters. I have used all I bought on super clearance last year. Off to the after holiday sales and it will be longer next year!

  2. I think that I’m going to make these for a valentines themed craft swap I’m taking part in alongside a picture frame I have made and some love potion cookies 🙂
